Resolve - Virtue - Grit
Wild West Catholic
Tales of survival, moral character, and deep resolve on the frontiers of yesterday, today, and tomorrow

Patroness of WWC
I’ve always been a fan of a great story.
It wasn't until I was in my 40's that I had the first thought of writing a Western novel. But the timing wasn't right, and the thought eventually disappeared. Fast forward to my 50's, and that creative spark came back. This time, it came with a persistent question: "What would make your Western fiction different?"
I thought about it quite often, never being able to come up with a good answer. Then, it hit me at church one day.
I had just exited the confessional and went to the kneeler directly in front of the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. As I knelt there, the answer became clear: Catholic Western Fiction.
I searched and searched online, but I wasn't able to find any other Catholic Western fiction writers. I knew right then what I had to do. I asked the Blessed Virgin to intercede on my behalf and take my petition to her Son for guidance on how to pursue this endeavor. Just like when I first returned to the Catholic Church in 2012, the inspiration hit me like a stick upside my head. The words started to pour out, the characters came to life, and here we are.
Today, this entire endeavor is placed firmly under the mantle and patronage of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Just as she stepped onto the rugged frontier of the Americas centuries ago to bring the light of her Son, I trust her to guide my pen as I write grit, virtue, and redemption onto the pages of the Old West.
